At The St Regis Red Sea Resort, on the neighbouring island in Ummahat, architect Kengo Kuma similarly took his cue from the surrounding reefs and sand dunes, interpreting their forms and motifs in contemporary, avant-garde fashion. There are 90 villas in total: the Dune Villas, located on the beach, are arranged in the shape of natural desert sand formations, while the overwater Coral Villas, connected by elevated walkways, have curved forms inspired by shells.
Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the interiors with natural light. The decorative scheme, by Kristina Zanic Consultants, features a calming, neutral palette uplifted with marine-inspired accents of blue and green, and is given unique personality through bespoke furniture, marble surfaces and the natural textures of fabric and wood.
